Finbar T. McGrath, MS, L.Ac. is the sole-proprietor and owner of Essential Wellness Acupuncture. He graduated in 2009 from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences where he earned a Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He is NCCAOM certified and licensed in the state of New York. His education was under the supervision of Dr. Jeffrey C. Yuen, a 88th generation Daoist Priest in the Jade Purity tradition.
The focus
of the program was on Classical Chinese Acupuncture, which involves learning
and respecting various classical traditions of Chinese medicine including: YinYang theory, Worsley 5 Element
Acupuncture, Shang Han Lun, Wai
Ke, Earth School and other traditions that have
developed out of the classical texts of Chinese medicine. He has also been
trained in the more standardized Traditional Chinese Medicine (or TCM).
In addition to his
education at the Swedish Institute, Mr. McGrath has done extensive training in
the treatment of sports injuries, orthopedic needling, and traditional Chinese Medical
Massage. His training and apprentice work with renowned martial artist and
practitioner of Zheng Gu Tui Na, Tom Bisio, positions him to offer unique services to his
potential patients.
Besides acupuncture, Mr. McGrath is trained and certified in the medical
use of essential oils and Chinese dietary therapeutics.
